☺️
I just wanted to celebrate this day.
I made a car.
My whole idea had been: sports car driving down the coastline/beach.
That's not my personal fantasy, okay? Haha! But I wanted to give that.
This is the closest I'll ever get to being able to afford giving someone their dream car. 😅
I was so fascinated with people making fondant cakes on Instagram because they made it look so easy. It's not. Absolutely not. Hahaha!
First of all, it needed to be kneaded. That rhymes! Anyway, when I went to sleep yesterday after hours of cleaning, my wrist hurt. But when I woke up my arms were trembling. Both my arms hurt! I couldn't even lift my phone high up. How could I knead the fondant? I ended up waiting for the pain to subside which resulted in me falling asleep.
That's my regret.
If I was able to make this earlier, I could have finished earlier. I saw the last post but I decided to finish first what I was doing. I should have come in.
But what I really should have done is made this earlier. Like days earlier. And I would have except that we had unforeseen circumstances. We had someone come in to fix our kitchen drain and install a sink. Well, the person said he needed to break the cement. It was a sudden, unexpected decision and there was no time to pack away anything. So every thing in the house got covered in a thick layer of dust. Everything, every spoon, fork, and plate, everything. Clearly, baking was not an option.
Well, I thought the point was to make a car. So at 8:40pm, I went out to go to the grocery store to buy those cake bars. The taste wasn't the issue. Putting them together and trying to create a shape was because there was nothing holding them together. I thought of using the jar of premade frosting that I had bought. But when I opened it, it had gone bad.
This had been my back-up plan. While I did plan to make this car in the first place with gumpaste, I was skeptical when I saw how hard the gumpaste I had was. Google said to mix it with fondant. So I ordered one but the fondant wasn't here yet the other day. I had never tried it before. But after seeing that the frosting had gone bad, I had no other option I could use other than this.
I actually didn't think it would be so hard to form! ðŸ˜
I swear, I wasn't like this as a grade school student working with clay! I couldn't make this as smooth as I wanted. On top of that, the entire thing was sagging! I didn't know fondant, or at least this fondant that I bought plus the gumpaste, was so soft it wasn't holding up well. I had to prop up the whole thing on cracker sandwiches to make room for the wheel. And everything underneath it started sagging. It sagged so much my sister said my car had a flat! 😑
And additionally, I was rushing things so badly that the result was bumpy. I was way in over my head! 🥲
I only had less than an hour left before I started painting it with food color and water. I'm pretty sure that's not how it's supposed to be done but that's how I did it. 😅
And it came out badly. Really badly at first. All the bumps became even more ridiculously obvious. I had also actually planned to make "soil" from crushed graham, but again, no time left. That was supposed to be the road the car is on. Instead some edible silver got on the cake board and at first I thought it looked a bit okay so I smeared a few on the other side of the board. But in pictures, the silver on the board doesn't shine and it just looked like dirt! Hahaha!
It wasn't the best looking thing the moment I finished it. But after a couple of hours the colors had melted together and it looked kinda like glazed ceramic. Pretty cool, actually.
So all in all, I'm kinda happy with it.
I just really wished I finished sooner.
I hope the person who sees it is happy too. ☺️
